Kamelia Kemileva elected Board Member of UPR Info

UPR Info is pleased to announce the election of Ms. Kamelia Kemileva, Executive Manager of the Geneva Academy for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, to its Executive Board.

Ms. Kemileva is a lawyer with a Master’s degree in International Public Law from the University of Geneva. She also holds a MBA diploma, with a focus on non-profit organizations. In parallel to her responsabilities at the Geneva Academy, she has recently worked closely with the Government of Geneva on the establishment of a Centre for Global Cooperation. She is currently visiting programme director for Wilton Park (www.wiltonpark.co.uk). Before joining the Academy, Ms. Kemileva worked as a Special Assistant to the President of the UN Human Rights Council for three years. Prior to this she worked at the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Permanent Missions of Switzerland to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

Ms. Kemileva decided to join UPR Info because "the organisation has unique expertise in the Geneva NGOs’ landscape: its work focuses on one of the most important human rights mechanisms - the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council. Their activity is an important opportunity to directly contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights worldwide."

UPR Info welcomes Ms. Kemileva to the organisation and looks forward to working with her. We also take this opportunity to warmly thank Mr. Waqas Ali Saqib for the six years he spent on the Board. Waqas has been a strong supporter of our work since our beginnings and we wish him good luck in his next endeavours.
