Papua New Guinea submits last minute responses to recommendations for its UPR Working Group Report adoption

On September 29, Papua New Guinea finally sent to the Human Rights Council (HRC) its responses to pending recommendations for the adoption of its Report of the Working Group at the HRC 18th session.

Papua New Guinea's report of the Working Group was initially scheduled for adoption on Friday 23 September. However, the delegation was not present and had not responded to the 69 recommendations pending from its UPR held on 11 May 2011 so the adoption was deferred.

The HRC eventually received an addendum containing the responses on the 29th and was able to adopt, without the delegation, the Report on Friday the 30th September, the last day of the HRC 18th session.

Papua New Guinea is the third State after Kiribati and Samoa whose report is adopted without the delegation.
