- The beginning of February saw the conclusion of the 32nd Session of the Universal Period Review (UPR) Working Group, which reviewed the human rights situation in fourteen United Nations (UN) Member States from the 21st January to the 1st of February in Geneva, Switzerland.
- In view of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) 32nd Working Group session to be held 21st January to 1st February 2019, UPR Info is organising a seminar on the role of Recommending States at the UPR on Tuesday 15 January 2019 in room Concordia 4, Palais des Nations.
The seminar will be provided in English from 10:00 to 11:00 and in French from 11:00 to 12:00.
- The thirty-second session of the Human Rights Council's Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group will be held in Geneva from 21 January to 1 February 2019 during which the next group of 14 States are scheduled to have their human rights records examined under this mechanism.
UPR Info convened the Pre-sessions from 11-14 December 2018 at the Palais des Nations, Geneva in advance of the 32nd session of the Universal Periodic Review. The international human rights conference gave the opportunity to national human rights defenders from Afghanistan, Cambodia, Chile, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, New Zealand, Slovakia, Uruguay, Vanuatu, and Vietnam to present their concerns and recommendations to Recommending States ahead of the country reviews at the UPR Working Group in January/February 2019.
