Uzbekistan's final Report of the Working Group not following the usual format!

After over three months of negotiations, Uzbekistan's final Report of the Working Group (RWG) is finally available. During the adoption of the RWG on 15 December 2008, seven delegations took the floor to ask the RWG on Uzbekistan to indicate a deadline for providing its response to the recommendations. Despite Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Mexico and the Netherlands' call to comply with the format usually used and intensive talks ever since, the document remained unchanged.

All other final reports of the working group since the beginning of the UPR, when they did not contain the responses to all recommendations, indicated in section II that the State under Review's responses "will be included in the outcome report adopted by the Human Rights Council at its XX session". Only Morocco and Ghana's reports did not refer specifically to the session but only to the Council.

Uzbekistan is therefore the first and only State that did not indicated a deadline for responding to its recommendations.
