UPR Info trains Scottish NGOs on mid-term reporting

UPR Info’s Executive director, Roland Chauville, was invited on 6 and 7 November in Scotland to train NGOs and individuals on the process of mid-term reporting.

Two one-day workshops were organised by Human Rights Consortium Scotland in the framework of the UPR of the United Kingdom. As part of the UK review, the Scottish Government had submitted information for the national report. Held in May 2012, the process is now at a mid-term and the UK Government committed to publish a report in June 2014 on the progress made so far to implement the recommendations.

NGOs in Scotland were invited to participate in the workshops (one held in Edinburgh, one in Glasgow) to learn more about the UPR modalities and functioning and how to engage in the mid-term reporting, including raising awareness, participating in the drafting of the Government’s report and publishing their own assessment.

Organised in a participatory and practical manner, the workshops led by Mr. Chauville aimed both at providing specific knowledge on the UPR process as well as concretely working on the planning of the implementation of the recommendations received by the United Kingdom.
