Sudanese HRDs have confiscated passports returned

During UPR Info's most recent round of Pre-sessions, four Sudanese human rights defenders (HRDs), who were due to participate at the Pre-session on Sudan, had there passports seized by security agents. The act was a clear and unacceptable limitation on civil society's participation in the UPR process.

Since the incident, and further to follow-up from UPR Info and its partners, we are pleased to learn that the four HRDs have had their passports returned by the authorities. UPR Info calls on Sudan to allow the HRDs, and civil society as a whole, unhindered and effective engagement in the State's UPR, without fear of intimidation.
