The delegation of Sierra Leone announced in an addendum to the Report of the Working Group accepting fifteen recommendations calling to abolish the death penalty.
On 5 May 2011, in the framework of the Universal Periodic Review of Sierra Leone, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, France, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom recommended to the delegation to abolish the death penalty and accede to the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Those recommendations were left pending by the delegation of Sierra Leone during its review in May which had until September 22nd to provide its responses. It did so in an addendum published mid September on the website of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. The delegation explained there that those recommendations were accepted "in principle" and "subject to constitutional review".
