Samoa absent from the adoption of its Working Group report at the HRC

Samoa was absent from the adoption of its Working Group Report held on 22 September 2011 at the Human Rights Council (HRC) 18th session. Samoa was expected to respond to 45 recommendations pending from the Working Group stage last May.

Despite the delegation's absence, States and stakeholders were given the floor to comment the review of Samoa and the Working Group report was adopted. A document was circulated in the room by the HRC Secretariat containing the responses of the delegation to the 45 recommendations. An addendum with those responses is also now available on the Office of the High Commissioner's website.

Samoa is the second country after Kiribati in September 2010 not to be present during the adoption of its Working Group Report.
