Guinea-Bissau failed to appear today before the Human Rights Council (HRC) for the adoption of its Report of the Working Group. The adoption was scheduled at 12pm under item 6 of the 15th session of the HRC and Guinea-Bissau was expected to present its final responses to recommendations. No reason was given officially by Guinea-Bissau to the HRC for its absence and the HRC meeting was thus suspended.
It is the first time a State under Review is absent from the adoption of its own Report of the Working Group.
It is unsure what will happen with the Report and whether the HRC will adopt it without Guinea-Bissau. However, all the recommendations made during the review in May had already received a response by the delegation.
