Egypt raises (again) a point of order against NGO statements

Egypt raised this afternoon three points of order during the adoption of Yemen’s UPR Working Group report at the plenary session of the Human Rights Council (HRC). The delegate claimed that the three NGOs statements were not addressing the report, as they should. Sweden disagreed by explaining that paragraph 31 of HRC resolution 5/1 allows NGOs to make "general comments" which should be understood as broadly as possible. They were supported by the United States calling for a greater lee-way for NGOs.
