  • Virtual Roundtable: Giving a Voice to Civil Society amid Covid 19

    UPR info invites civil society organizations and National Human Rights Institutions in a Virtual Roundtable to exchange information on the impact of the Covid 19 crisis on human rights. This will be an opportunity to discuss about challenges that civil society is facing and the solutions that can be put in place to protect human rights.

     “The COVID-19 crisis cannot be solved with public health and emergency measures only; all other human rights must be addressed too » reports a statement published by UN human rights experts on 26th March 2020.

  • Pre-sessions 36 Postponed to October 2020

    The Bureau of the Human Rights Council has postponed the 36th session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group until November 2020. Click here for more information on the scheduling change and its impact on the UPR calendar.

  • May 2020 Session of the UPR Working Group is postponed

    Given the current situation with the spread of COVID-19 and the emergency measures that have been taken by affected countries around the world, including the host country, Switzerland, the Bureau of the Human Rights Council decided that the 36th session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), scheduled from 4 to 15 May 2020, will be postponed to 2 to 13 November 2020 - the dates currently scheduled for the 37th session of the UPR.

    UPR PRE-SESSION 36 HOSTED BY UPR INFO

    In view of the public health situation involving COVID-19, UPR Info has decided to cancel the Pre-sessions previously scheduled to take place in Geneva from 31 March – 3 April 2020. This decision was taken after careful consideration and with the health and security of all attendees in mind.

    Please note that the training session on 30 March and the Human Rights Café on 1 April are also cancelled.
