- UPR Info is proud to have participated for the second year in the 16 Days of activism against gender-based violence campaign. To this end, UPR Info organized a social media campaign around different projects including video interviews with women human rights defenders and case study research on four different countries to provide good practices on how UPR recommendations have contributed to achieve women’s rights and eliminate gender-based violence.
- The beginning of November saw the conclusion of the 34th Session of the Universal Period Review (UPR) Working Group, which reviewed the human rights situation in fourteen United Nations (UN) Member States from the 4th to the 15th of November in Geneva, Switzerland.
Today we celebrate Children’s Day, this year is a special edition as it is also the 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Child. This Convention is ratified by 196 of the 197 States entities recognized by the United Nations. It is universally acknowledged as an essential instrument laying the groundwork of the fundamental rights of children, such as the right to be heard, the right to participation, or the best interest of the child.
- UPR Info is pleased to invite you to the 35th Pre-session on the 10th, 11th and 12th of December, in the Room XXIV of the Palais des Nations. During this event CSOs from Guinea, Lesotho, Kenya, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Armenia, Kuwait, Sweden, Kiribati, Guyana and Turkey will take the floor.
- On the occasion of the 42nd Session of the Human Rights Council, UPR Info delivered a statement for the General Debate under Item 6. UPR Info's statement focused on the role that parliaments can play in the implementation and monitoring of the UPR recommendations.
