Recommendations from Session 6 available in our Database

Recommendations made during Session 6 of the UPR (December 2009) are finally available in our Database.

A total of 2039 recommendations were made which is an increase of 373 recommendations compared to session 5 (1666) and 236 compared to session 4 (1803).

108 States made recommendations, which is equal to session 5 and eight less than session 4 (116).

Out of those 2039 recommendations, 1265 were accepted (62%), 235 rejected (11.5%), 235 without clear position (11.5%) and 304 without any response (14.9%). Those figures are along the same lines as previous sessions (6077 recommendations for session 1 to 5, 4001 accepted (65.8%), 792 rejected (13%), 779 without clear position (12.8%) and 389 without any response (6.4%)), except for the last category which represents twice as many.

Regarding the action category, 55 recommendations were from category 1 (2.7%), 278 from category 2 (13.6%), 197 from category 3 (9.7%), 826 from category 4 (40.5%), 683 from category 5 (33.5%). Those figures are again along the same lines as previous sessions: 206 from category 1 (3.4%), 1018 from category 2 (16.7%), 647 from category 3 (10.6%), 2397 from category 4 (39.4%), 1809 from category 5 (29.8%).

The State under Review (SuR) which received most recommendations during session 6 was the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea with 167 recommendations followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo with 166. It is the second highest number in the whole history of the UPR after Viet Nam with 172.

The most active recommending States during session 6 were Canada and Spain with 87 recommendations each made to the 16 SuR.
